BayleyPLUS
brings together all aspects of life-learning, entertainment, wellness
and support – for mature adults
in our community. Educational
and social programs provide an integrated approach for individuals
and groups, meeting the changing needs of mature adults. Our services contribute to the well-being of the whole person.
BayleyPLUS provides many
bridges between the community and Bayley Place, introducing adults to
new alternatives and providing a wide range of choices
through programs and services.
Although
BayleyPLUS services are diverse, they are are interrelated and comprise
one program that touches every part
of life. Our programs weave
together the spiritual, social, physical, intellectual, emotional
and vocational dimensions of life. By addressing the mind-body-spirit connection,
BayleyPLUS
helps enhance quality of life and enables people to live at their
highest
potential, with optimal wellness and independence.

BayleyPLUS Community Outreach Services collaborates with Community
Services West to provide the Home Delivered Meals Program. Nutritious meals
are delivered to
men and women 60 years of age or older
who live in the community and may be at nutritional risk due to illness
or disability.
Menus and meals are prepared under the supervision of a Licensed Dietitian
to ensure that they meet federal recommended dietary allowances.
A site coordinator and social worker oversee the distribution of the
meals and volunteer
drivers deliver hot or chilled meals to older adults in the
Delhi and surrounding community. Individuals not only receive a
nutritious meal but also have the opportunity to socialize with those
delivering the
meals.
Who Qualifies?
Individuals must need assistance with two or more daily living activities
such as:
- Eating
- Transfer/mobility
- Grooming
- Taking
medications
- Shopping
- Meal
preparation
- Light
housework
- Home
maintenance
The
social worker will complete a brief questionnaire to determine an individual’s
eligibility. Meal Service is offered Monday through Friday for the noon
meal. A supply of frozen meals may be delivered to the individual when
there are special
circumstances
or to anticipate the need for weekend, evening or holiday meals.
What
is the Cost?
There is no cost to the individual. However, individuals may make a donation
which will offset the cost of the meal. If a client is under the age
of 60, he or she may pay privately for the meals, call (513) 353-3011
to obtain services or inquire about volunteer opportunities.
 A
home emergency response system is available. This program can offer peace
of mind and act as a safety net when assistance is needed
in an emergency.
A home-delivered meals program helps adults age 60 and over with nourishing
meals delivered to the home each weekday. BayleyPLUS hosts several
programs in conjunction with AARP, including annual tax counseling services
for
seniors and the 55-Alive Driver Safety Program, a classroom driving
refresher course. Homebound seniors also may benefit from a Card Circle
Program.
 Community
groups can tap the Community Education Program for speakers, educational
programs and workshops. Topics have included Caring for Aging Relatives,
Living Options for Mature Americans, Aging Issues and Parish Life, A
Day of Reflection, Health Issues, Financial Planning, Memory Loss/Dementia
and many others. Professional groups may take advantage of on-site seminars
held for continuing education credits and licensure renewal. Caregiver
support groups are held on a regular basis and offer opportunities to
caregivers for education, support and networking.

The
LifeLearn Program provides learning experiences for mature learners and
develops opportunities for sharing knowledge and skills with others.
There are no exams, only the fun of learning and interactions with old
and new friends. Sessions are held in the spring and fall. The program
is coordinated with the College of Mount St. Joseph.

The
Bayley Place Resource Center offers a wide range of information for continued
learning and support. The Caregiver Corner provides information about related
health care issues to caregivers. A Professional Resource Area stocks current
periodicals, videos and audio tapes for health care and social service
professionals. A variety of religious and other books, magazines, tapes
and promotional health materials are available for general use.
