Bayley PLUS Community Outreach Services collaborates with Community Services West to provide the Home Delivered Meals Program. Nutritious meals are delivered to men and women 60 years of age or older who live in the community and may be at nutritional risk due to illness or disability.
Menus and meals are prepared under the supervision of a Licensed Dietitian to ensure that they meet federal recommended dietary allowances. A site coordinator and social worker oversee the distribution of the meals and volunteer drivers deliver hot or chilled meals to older adults in the Delhi and surrounding community. Individuals not only receive a nutritious meal but also have the opportunity to socialize with those delivering the meals.
Who Qualifies?
Individuals must need assistance with two or more daily living activities such as:
• Eating
• Transfer/mobility
• Grooming
• Taking medications
• Shopping
• Meal preparation
• Light housework
• Home maintenance
The social worker will complete a brief questionnaire to determine an individual’s eligibility. Meal Service is offered Monday through Friday for the noon meal. A supply of frozen meals may be delivered to the individual when there are special circumstances or to anticipate the need for weekend, evening or holiday meals.
What is the Cost?
There is no cost to the individual. However, individuals may make a donation which will offset the cost of the meal. If a client is under the age of 60, he or she may pay privately for the meals, call (513) 353-3011 to obtain services or inquire about volunteer opportunities.
